Aquaphor Crystal three-stage review: price, fit and upkeep

The three-stage Crystal is £129.99 with a standard drinking tap and three cartridges, K3, K2 and K7. It is the budget multi-stage option on our list, and the case for it is simple: if you want more than one stage and a tap in the box for £129.99, nothing else here offers that.[1]

Manufacturer claims; no independent listing confirmed

Replacement costs deserve as much attention as the purchase price. At £57.99 a set, the five-year total is £477.93 using our cautious nine-month change assumption. The published intervals conflict, and we have not independently confirmed the filtration claims for this exact model.

This is the three-stage Crystal, not the Crystal Solo, which has its own review.

Who it suits

  • want more than one filtration stage in a budget kit
  • have a tap hole and a water pressure at or below 6.3 bar
  • are happy to plan for the shortest replacement interval

Who should look elsewhere

  • have no suitable tap hole and cannot get permission to make one
  • want a certification that names the exact model
  • are expecting the C125 tap: this is the standard tap, and the C125 bundle is a separate £229.99 product

What three stages cost to run

The replacement set is £57.99 for K3, K2 and K7, against £22.99 for the Solo’s K2.[2] Aquaphor’s UK page says nine months or 8,000 litres, whichever comes first. At eight litres a day nine months uses about 2,200 litres, so at that assumed usage the extra rated capacity goes unused: you pay for the time limit.

Same sums and assumptions as the comparison: 8 litres a day, the cartridge fitted at purchase included, no fitting, adaptors or water.

Which interval to believe

The sources conflict. The UK page says nine months, a badge on the same page says once a year, and the manual says up to 18 months.[3] We use nine months as a planning assumption because it is the shortest and the one in the sales text. The rows below show how the alternative published intervals affect the estimate; they are cost illustrations, not advice to delay a cartridge change. The exact price

£129.99 is for the standard Crystal with a standard drinking tap, not the Crystal Solo and not the C125 upgrade kit, which is a different product at £229.99.[1]

Fit and limits

The manual gives a maximum inlet pressure of 6.3 bar and calls for a pressure reducer above it, and gives the unit as 280 × 105 × 375 mm.[3] The UK page gives 2.5 litres a minute. The kit’s tap needs its own hole. We quote none of the pages’ claims for individual cartridges because they contradict each other, and we did not check VAT, warranty or WRAS approval.

Cartridges

The set is listed on the cartridge page with its price and interval. It is not the Solo’s single K2. Follow the care guide alongside the instructions for your exact kit.
