UK Water Filters anti-scale kit review: cost, fit and cartridges
This is a budget kit aimed specifically at limescale at one drinking-water tap. The £97 price includes the tap, housing, first cartridge, tubing and connector, VAT and delivery. Before buying, budget for both the three- and six-month cartridge-change cases.[1]

How this system connects
- Cold water supply
- Filter housing
- Separate drinking tap
Connection overview, not an installation drawing. Follow the exact model’s manual for fittings, orientation and clearance. Check your fitting options.
- Price
- £97.00, tap included
- Replacement
- Anti-Scale cartridge £29.97, about every 6 months
- Five-year cost
- £366.73 to £666.43, hardware and cartridges, before fitting
- Evidence
- Manufacturer claims; no independent listing confirmed
The seller’s own page says the cartridge may need changing at three months, depending on your water. On that cycle five years comes to £666.43, or £856.43 if the £29.97 sale price reverts to £39.97, against £366.73 if six months holds. We found no independent confirmation of its scale performance, so treat it as conditional.
Who it suits
- live in a hard-water area and want to try a scale-focused cartridge on one tap
- have copper pipework and a hole for the tap
- want a single kit with the tap included
Who should look elsewhere
- have plastic pipework and want to avoid a plumber
- want to keep your existing mixer tap: it is not compatible
- expect whole-house softening or a guaranteed cartridge life
What it can and can’t do
It treats the water at one tap. A softener treats the supply, and the hard water guide explains the difference. The page says scale performance depends on your water, so we repeat none of its performance figures and have no independent listing to point to.[1]
What £97 includes
A Swan Classic tap, housing, ASC2000 cartridge, tubing and connector, with VAT and standard UK delivery included. £97 is an October sale price; the usual price on the page is £137.[1]
| Configuration | Parts | Total |
|---|---|---|
| As sold: tap and cartridge included | Anti-scale kit with tap £97.00[1] | £97.00 |
What three- and six-month cartridge changes cost
The ASC2000 is £29.97 on sale, usually £39.97.[2] The page says up to six months, with scale performance possibly falling to three. Both cases are costed below. The extra rows use the usual cartridge price while keeping the initial kit at the checked £97 sale price; they do not predict future prices.
| Case | 1 year | 3 years | 5 years |
|---|---|---|---|
| Changed every 6 months | £126.97 | £246.85 | £366.73 |
| Changed every 3 months | £186.91 | £426.67 | £666.43 |
Same sums and assumptions as the comparison: 8 litres a day, the cartridge fitted at purchase included, no fitting, adaptors or water.
| Case | 1 year | 3 years | 5 years |
|---|---|---|---|
| Every 6 months, at the usual £39.97 | £136.97 | £296.85 | £456.73 |
| Every 3 months, at the usual £39.97 | £216.91 | £536.67 | £856.43 |
Fit
The kit needs its own tap, and an existing kitchen mixer tap is not compatible, so you need a tap hole. The saddle connector is for copper pipe with about 5 cm exposed; plastic pipe needs an adaptor or a plumber. The housing is 34.3 cm high and 11.43 cm wide.[1] See fitting without drilling and the taps page.
Cartridges and warranty
The ASC2000 is on the cartridge page. The page shows conflicting warranty lengths, so confirm the cover with the seller before ordering. We have not verified WRAS approval. The care guide explains how to plan cartridge changes.
Alternatives
- Waterdrop WD-10UA review (in the comparison): Costs less to own and run, with no scale claim and thin evidence.
- Doulton HIP DUO with Biotect Ultra review (in the comparison): Offers a limescale pre-filter at a far higher cost, as the maker’s claim only.
- Aquaphor Crystal Solo review (in the comparison): A tap-included kit with no scale claim.

Common questions
Will it soften all my water?
No. It treats the water at one tap. A softener treats the supply.
Can I use it with my existing mixer tap?
No. The kit needs its own tap, which is included, so you need a tap hole.
Is £97 the normal price?
It is the October sale price on the page, and the cartridge is also on sale at £29.97 against a usual £39.97.
