Water-to-Go bottles: sizes, filter costs and care
Bottles: 550 ml £29.95, 750 ml £39.95, 1 litre £44.95. Replacement filters: £16.95 each, or £11.24 each in a pack of four. The smallest is easiest to carry; larger sizes need fewer refills but add weight. Filter packs also change the cost per litre.
Desk research from Water-to-Go’s own pages and the reports it hosts; we haven’t tested the bottles ourselves.
Sizes and prices

Prices below are for the standard bottle on Water-to-Go’s UK site on 16 October 2026, before delivery. Colour and stock are chosen at checkout, and these are not bundle prices. We haven’t confirmed whether a first filter is included in the bottle price, so check the product page before you count filters.

Choosing a size
- 550 ml is the lowest price and the smallest capacity. Its weight is not confirmed.
- 750 ml: 138 g empty, 24 cm high, 7.1 cm base. Middle price and capacity.
- 1 litre: 185 g empty, 27.5 cm high, 7.9 cm base. Full, it adds about a kilogram of water, so check the bag, bike frame or holder.
Any size uses the same filters: Water-to-Go states that its current filters fit its current bottles. If you own an older bottle, check the exact model first. For how this family sits beside others, see the water filter bottles guide.
Filters and what they cost
Each filter is rated for up to 200 litres. That is a volume limit, not a date: at one litre a day it reaches 200 litres in 200 days, at two litres a day in 100. Drinking less doesn’t make it last indefinitely, so follow the care steps below too.
| Pack | Price | Per filter | Per litre at the full 200 litres |
|---|---|---|---|
| Single filter | £16.95 | £16.95 | 8.48p |
| Twin pack | £27.95 | £13.98 | 6.99p |
| Pack of four | £44.95 | £11.24 | 5.62p |
See replacement filters at Water-to-Go Affiliate link
The per-litre figures are arithmetic on list prices that assume every filter reaches the full 200 litres. They are not a measured yield.
| Water drunk through the bottle | Days to reach 200 litres |
|---|---|
| 1 litre a day | 200 |
| 2 litres a day | 100 |
Filters bought from scratch for a year of use
This counts only the filters needed to supply the litres shown, rounded up. It leaves out the bottle, any filter that came with it, delivery and replacing a filter early, so it is not a yearly cash cost.
| Litres filtered | Filters needed | Single filter | Twin pack | Pack of four |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 365 litres (1 litre a day for a year) | 2 | £33.90 | £27.95 | £44.95 (2 spare) |
| 730 litres (2 litres a day for a year) | 4 | £67.80 | £55.90 | £44.95 |
The pack that costs least depends on how many filters you need; a larger pack can leave spares. For the general method, see water filter replacement.
Activation, cleaning and storage
To activate a new filter, fill the bottle and turn it over so the filter is fully under water for at least 15 minutes, then squeeze gently until the water runs clear; repeat if it dries out. Take the filter out before cleaning. The EcoActive bottles and lids go in the dishwasher; the older Classic Go 500 ml does not.
Keep the filter from freezing. Water-to-Go rates it by volume, up to 200 litres, rather than by calendar date. Taste and smell cannot confirm that water is free of harmful microbes.
What the test reports show
Water-to-Go’s testing page links laboratory reports. We read two of them in full.
The first is from BCS Laboratories (USA), dated 27 May 2021, on three filters the client submitted. After one litre of conditioning and a one-litre challenge, the bacteria result and the cyst-surrogate result met the NSF P231 protocol at the tested point. The MS2 virus reduction was 99.97, 99.97 and 99.98% (log reductions of 3.5 to 3.7), and the report states this did not meet the protocol’s virus requirement at that point. It covers only those samples and conditions, and doesn’t link them to a current product or a filter near the end of its life. Read the BCS report (PDF).
The second is from the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine, dated 8 May 2013, on two new, unused bottles, using a polio vaccine strain in autoclaved distilled water. It gives log reductions of 3.73 and 3.20 and summarises above 99.9% under laboratory conditions. It is an older test with a different organism and conditions, and it doesn’t identify the current filter or its performance at 200 litres. Read the LSHTM report (PDF).
Together these are dated findings, not a verdict on today’s bottles. The 2021 report doesn’t show the virus claim being met against the standard it was measured on, and the 2013 report is encouraging but old and narrow. So we don’t present Water-to-Go as proven virus protection. If viruses matter where you are going, ask the maker for current reports that name the filter and bottle, or use another way of treating the water. Water-to-Go also markets microbial reduction more broadly; we haven’t verified that claim.
For what certificates and claims mean in general, see water filter certifications.
Delivery and checkout
Water-to-Go’s UK site shows free delivery above £49.99, but that banner may not apply to every UK address. We haven’t checked the delivery fee below it, so look at the checkout. The older watertogo.eu address redirects to water-to-go.co.uk. Sources and photo credits below are plain links; only the buttons marked Affiliate link are tracked.
Still choosing between types? The water filter bottles guide compares this family with the BRITA Vital, LifeStraw Go Series and GRAYL UltraPress by the kind of water you will use.
